A brief explanation about pork and beef sales

Below is deposit information for pork and beef shares. This deposit is required to guarantee your share and will be deducted from the final price of the animal.

Pork & Beef Shares (Not USDA)

Meat that is not processed in a USDA facility cannot be sold as individual pieces to a customer or used in a restaurant. As such, we sell portions (shares) of live animals, but facilitate butchery, cutting and wrapping.

A beef share is a quarter of a cow (one half of one half of a cow).
If you would like a whole cow you should deposit for four shares

A pork share is one-half of a pig.
If you would like a whole pig you should make a deposit for two (2) shares

We sell animals by hanging weight.
Pork is $5.50 per pound and typically weighs around 220# for a whole pig
Beef is $6.50 per pound and typically ranges from 450-550# for a whole cow

Buyers are also responsible for paying:

·        Your % (¼, ½, or all) of the slaughter fee (~$110 per pork, ~$170 per beef)

·        Cut & wrap costs at ~$1.10/lb hanging weight that are charged by the processor.

·        Extra processing costs such as sausage making and bacon.

Processing costs were recorded as of May 2025 and may change.

After the deposit has been paid, your contact information will be given to the cut/wrap facility so they may get in touch with you about specific cutting and processing instructions.

Meat will come packaged and frozen by the processor.

Beef Butcher Boxes (USDA)

Meat that has been processed in a USDA facility can be sold by the individual piece and used in restaurants. For USDA processed meat, we sell either by primal cut (chuck, flank, etc.), or in boxes of assorted cuts which can be found below.

If you are looking for USDA primal cuts please contact us before
close of business on May 30th at contact@blackberrybogfarm.com

For butcher boxes or shares, please make a selection below.

Our animals are free range and raised in the lush dike lands of Brownsmead, Oregon.

Blackberry Bog Farm raises two different kinds of cattle. Our Scottish Highland Cattle and Jersey steers are grass-fed, spoiled just a bit (because everyone enjoys a tasty treat now and then… Daisy’s favorites are pumpkins), and both varieties produce delicious meat.

We have a growing herd of Scottish Highland Cows. Our herd comes in a variety of colors, did you know that they can range from Black, Browns, Reds, and even pure White. Raised on the lush farmland of Brownsmead, our Highland beef is lean, naturally tender, and flavorful, all the things that have made the breed so popular throughout the United Kingdom. Nutritional Information

Our Jersey beef (yes, the ones that are famous as dairy cows). We source the steers from a local dairy, helping to assure all our local resources are being utilized well. While these cows are not as big as your more popular beef cows, the meat is packed with flavor. Many of the long-time Brownsmead ranchers will tell you it is the best meat they have ever eaten.
